----- RFID TAG READERS -----
Y-Tex Bluetooth RFID Ear Tag Reader:
Important: Before configuring the Doe-Fawn Manager to use the Y-Tex Bluetooth
reader, Bluetooth and the Y-Tex reader must be configured in Windows. Refer to
the Y-Tex product documentation for configuring the Y-Tex reader with Windows.
1) To configure the Doe-Fawn Manager to use the Y-Tex Bluetooth RFID ear tag
reader, from the Main Menu, select Program Setup then click the Y-Tex RFID Ear
Tag Reader Button. In the Y-Tex Bluetooth Stick RFID reader dialog, enter the
Com Port Number that the reader is configured to use in Windows and check the
box at the top of the dialog.
The Com Port number must match that in the Windows Bluetooth Properties dialog
for the Y-Tex reader. You may test the reader after entering the Com Port by
clicking the Apply Settings button.
2) Only one RFID reader may be in use at a time. If the Allflex reader was
configured for use, it will be turned off when the Y-Tex reader is enabled.
3) In order for ear tags read by the Y-Tex reader to be received by the Doe-Fawn
Manager, the Bluetooth connection in Windows must be established. The connection
may be established either before or after starting the Doe-Fawn Manager. If the
Bluetooth connection for the Y-Tex reader has not been established, right-click
on the icon and select ‘Connect’. You will need to establish the connection each
time you use the Doe-Fawn manager to receive scanned ear tags from the Y-Tex
reader. When the Doe-Fawn manager exits, the connection is closed.
5) Only one animal per ear tag number may be assigned.
6) When an ear tag is read with the Main Menu as the active screen, the record
for that animal is retrieved and the appropriate dialog is displayed. If the tag
matches a fawn, the fawn dialog is displayed, etc.
7) When an animal dialog is active and a tag is scanned that matches the type of
animal for the dialog. The record for that animal is retrieved and displayed.
Example: Scanning a fawn ear tag when the Fawn dialog is displayed. However if
an animal of a different type is scanned the record is not retrieved. Example,
scanning a buck ear tag when the doe dialog is active.
8) In addition to the Main Menu and animal dialogs the Shots dialog and Gain

Fawn ear tag scans. The Shots dialog will receive ear tags of any animal type
and retrieve the Shots Record for that animal when the tag is scanned.
